About The Position

The Assistant Manager, Sales’ responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to: Consult with Vice President and Manager of Sales on allocations of titles and how best to optimize sales revenue for each release. This involves knowledge of the independent film product & industry, it’s target audience & demographics, competition and recent and/or anticipated market trends. Based on knowledge of the salability of the film, establish a targeted scope of distribution in limited territories so as to maximize potential sales revenue. Assist in sales negotiations with theatre exhibitors, which involves setting the terms and conditions (ideally at the high end of established industry-wide parameters), for licensing each particular film to theatre circuits/owners. Assist in re-negotiating terms with exhibitors should the film not do as well as expected in order to maintain strong client relationships and maximize future sales potential. Support Vice President and Manager Sales in determining the need for screenings and trailers and where they will be most effective. Coordinate with theatres’ marketing departments and SPC’s marketing team the assets the theatres would need to advertise, promote or otherwise publicize any of our releases. Travel to meet with exhibitors. This involves but is not limited to attending conventions, conferences, and visits to exhibitors’ home offices. Some of these business trips may include giving presentations for large groups, staging trade show booths, and/or planning outings such as meals, special interest events, etc. Analyze industry trends, such as distribution patterns, movie demographics, circuit positioning, etc. When Non-Theatrical Sales Manager is out of office, report grosses to others within the Company.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the independent film industry required
  • Some sales experience preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills - Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent negotiating and dispute resolution skills.
  • Ability to identify work priorities and requirements up-front and manage workflow.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and think strategically.
  • Skill in establishing on-going relationships of trust and understanding.
  • Must possess strong service orientation, attention to detail, strong teamwork skills, the ability to work on several tasks concurrently.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing needs.
