About The Position

The Assistant Product Manager (APM) plays a vital role on the product management team, partnering cross-functionally to support the planning, execution, and evaluation of key business initiatives. This entry-level position is responsible for overseeing inventory management, with a strong emphasis on reducing and managing distressed inventory. The APM works closely with Product Managers and internal teams to execute strategic business and marketing plans that drive volume, profitability, and market share. This role also requires regular presence on the production floor to monitor operations, collaborate with production supervisors and scheduling teams, and ensure alignment with business objectives. The APM is responsible for utilizing camera systems to support safety compliance and monitor foreign material controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of production experience in a pork processing facility required, along with at least 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Basic computer proficiency required, including Excel, WMS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with Tyson internal systems, including WMS, is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to effectively present information.
  • Demonstrated analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support Product Managers in achieving volume, profitability, and category objectives
  • Execute business plans, monitor performance, and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Analyze data to generate insights and support decision-making
  • Assist with product and packaging development from concept through commercialization
  • Contribute to forecasting and collaborate with demand and supply planning teams
  • Manage inventory levels and proactively address distressed inventory in partnership with Sales and Customer Service Representatives
  • Track packaging, production, and key timelines to ensure deliverables are met
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and participate in customer meetings as needed
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and category performance
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Strategy teams to support initiatives and drive results
