The Assistant Manager of Residential Operations (AMRO) will work closely with the Director of Residential Operations to facilitate accurate, profitable, and increasingly streamlined work for our residential solar installations. The position requires a balance of strong solar installation knowledge alongside excellent managerial and administrative acumen. The Assistant Manager drives job flow and strives to ensure high quality projects and safe work practices.

  • Assist in leading, managing, and coaching the residential operation department to ensure timely completion of projects within their specified budget
  • Work closely with the Director of Residential Operations and COO in steering the company to achieve its Residential financial targets and goals
  • Assist in managing project schedules, budgets, and reports to foster successful completion of projects as well as further efficiencies in operational processes
  • Create and deliver detailed project data reports to upper management
  • Analyze project scenarios and work with the Director of Residential Operations to make sound decisions based on factual data
  • Partner with key decision makers (Safety Officer, HR, Safety Committee, crews) on all safety requirements and ensure that every build is done safely
  • Handle difficult client, supply chain, and labor compliance related issues
  • Build relationships between management, field, and office staff, developing cohesive communication and process flow
  • Assist in managing the Residential recruitment pipeline with HR and the Director of Residential Operations
  • Conduct performance reviews for all direct reports and ensure that ongoing evaluations result in growth and development of staff
  • Collaborate with the Director of Residential Operations to oversee sponsored trainings and training programs for employees
  • Discipline employees when necessary using procedures outlined by HR using proper documentation and work with employees to improve their performance
  • Lead key project meetings as needed
  • Supervise field personnel in troubleshooting solar and battery systems, as well as electronic equipment
  • Read, understand, and contribute to BOMs (bill of materials)
  • Solve problems as they arise. Overcome survey, design, and installation challenges.
  • Ask others for help or research for the answer if you don’t have it.
  • Work diligently to get jobs unstuck and keep customers informed.
  • 5+ years solar experience required with residential area preferred
  • 5+ years of superior leadership and people management experience
  • Exceptional communications skills, both verbal and written, required
  • College Degree required
  • Knowledge of Google Suite, Microsoft Office required
  • Effective time management and organizational skills required
  • Highly adept managerial administrative skills including timesheets, SOP creation, policy review and creation, holding and recording agenda-driven meetings, and execution of progressive disciplinary practices
  • Ability to recognize, identify, and communicate about common parts and materials used in the solar and battery industry
  • Knowledge of construction accounting preferred: particularly percent-complete revenue recognition
  • Scheduling experience and understanding of project pipeline
  • Must understand how scheduling backlogs impact revenue forecasting
  • Strong ethical and moral compass required
  • Time management skills required
  • Valid California Driver License with acceptable driving record
  • Able to type 50+ wpm
  • Contract administration experience desirable
  • Conflict resolution experience desired
