We are seeking an experienced Meat & Seafood Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Department Manager with the day-to-day operations of the department. Helping to set the tone regarding food safety, product quality, and world-class customer service in the absence of the department manager. They possess effective communication skills and share that knowledge with associates while building relationships with suppliers and customers.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist the Department Manager with hiring, scheduling, training, monitoring, coaching and managing all aspects of the Meat & Seafood department.
Possess expert knowledge of department functioning and can anticipate and follow through on what must be done to ensure fully successful operations of the department.
Model leadership and work ethic by demonstrating objectivity, neutrality, and calmness under pressure.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage communications, learn quickly, and build relationships with all levels of the organization; anticipates guests and store needs by evaluating the environment.
Develop a strong workplace morale by encouraging employees, helping them develop professionally by achieving individual goals, and objectives.
Create and maintain a culture of safety in the department.
Develop and maintain training programs ensuring 100% compliance with all food safety and sanitation efforts while also adhering to all Idaho food laws.
Ensure that all meat display cases, coolers, work areas, storage areas, and floors are in a clean and orderly condition that meets all Health Department requirements.
Assist in evaluating staff members while following Co-op procedures for documenting personnel actions.
Work with manager on inventory levels, ordering meat products on schedule and conducting monthly inventories.
Manage product quality by ensuring product integrity and proper rotation.
Work closely with our Category Management team to ensure in-stock conditions and core set execution as well as recipe accuracy and development.
Looks for ways to improve sales and promote quality, efficiency, and productivity.
Attend all department meetings and have working knowledge of sales promotions and calendar events.
Willingness to work more than forty hours per week, including weekends, holidays, and vacation coverage.
Meet all Sales, Labor, Shrink and Margin goals and metrics as outlined by the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
Complete any other duties assigned by your Department Manager or Store Manager.
Qualifications and Skills:
This position requires a leader who follows through and executes at a high level.

Able to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
Adhere to scheduled shifts and be ready for work when shift begins.
Ability to consistently be at work and on time.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED
1-3 years as a leader in a retail environment is required.
2-5 years working in a Meat department.
Physical Demands:
Sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a grocery setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight, up to 50lbs; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Working Environment:
Work is performed primarily in a grocery store setting with extensive public contact and frequent interruptions.
