Job overview and responsibilities The Assistant Manager of Facility, is responsible for oversight of the facilities maintenance operations at United staffed maintenance locations. Responsible for the local maintenance planning and execution; productivity, accountability and dependability program execution and (SLA) service level agreement compliance delivering the optimum level of performance in support of safe and reliable airline operations. Supervises technician and supervisor performance and execution against all division and corporate maintenance objectives. This includes maintenance customer service level agreement (SLA) compliance, maintenance cycle time, all-in-service level goals/tolerances, planned and preventative maintenance program compliance Execute against station performance goals and objectives aligning with divisional and company goals Ensure regulatory compliance of Technical Operations activities to achieve maximum productivity and cost control Track and analyze department performance Identify issues and engage in structured problem-solving to assist front-line co-workers in accomplishing work Actively involved in next shift preparation and the success of the station plan Understand strategic resource planning to ensure adequate staffing to support operational needs Assess and delegate the appropriate work tasks Backfill for leader when needed Facilitate in-person training and/or presentations as required Consistently involved in station projects and/or extra activities to improve, meet or exceed departmental goals Organize /track projects to maximize change management and increase successful implementation Provide meaningful feedback, coaching current and new supervisors to improve recognition as appropriate Lead and implement station change management initiatives Identify issues and engage in structured problem-solving Ensure serviceable equipment is available to meet the needs of the partners supported Maintains proactive communication and positive relations with maintenance team and customer group stakeholders Manage accurate and effective customer reporting and communication programs while sustaining positive customer service and effectiveness ratings Lead safe and environmentally compliant maintenance operations Supports all safety / OSHA, environmental and training programs compliance Support safety mitigation programs and leads investigations that support root cause analysis of accidents, injuries and incidences involving facility or team personnel Conduct peer safety and accident review board Conduct “routine” investigations (as appropriate) into performance, safety (damages and injuries), complaints and other work issues Support investigations (as appropriate) into performance, safety, complaints, and other work-related issues Maintain regular and prompt communication, including attending local meetings, town halls, RAP sessions, e-mail/voicemail follow-up, and incident reports Provide supervisors and technicians with guidance, leadership, direction, coaching, meaningful feedback to improve overall skills and proficiencies recognition as appropriate Set expectations regarding performance standards for supervisors and technicians, gain their commitment under Company guidelines and CBA (if applicable) Assist with career action planning, goal setting and employee development including but not limited to assisting Manager/Director (if applicable) with mid-year & end-year performance reviews of Supervisors Actively recognize your team or individual’s performance by using UA recognition tools (i.e. Bravo, UA100)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience
  • Post-secondary education in a technical- or maintenance
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a maintenance- related role
  • Experience in building maintenance/systems-related maintenance operations
  • Knowledge of facilities / building maintenance skills / trades, such as Electrical, HVAC, Conveyor, Plumbing, building maintenance / systems
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
