About The Position

Responsible for assisting with planning, organizing, and developing the overall operation of the Dietary Services department to help ensure that quality food service and nutritional care is provided at all times. This includes acting as backup to the Manager Food & Nutrition Services. Adheres to and practices the St. John's Health Corporate Compliance Program and participates in Performance Improvement activities.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years supervisory experience.
  • Ability to interface with hospital staff in a positive team oriented approach
  • Demonstrate a professional and appropriate role model for staff.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently using good communication, interpersonal, phone and customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years high volume cooking experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises staff in the absence of Manager Food & Nutrition Services.
  • Assists with coaching of department personnel on an on-going basis, provides feedback and coaching to employees as indicated to assure rules and standards are adhered to.
  • Completes competencies and evaluations on staff.
  • Assists with recruiting, hiring, providing orientation/training for employees.
  • Works collaboratively with Manager Food & Nutrition Services to create a department that is team oriented.
  • Assists in other areas of the department as necessary.
  • Fills in where needed during peak hours of operation.
  • Assists with ordering all food supplies, assuring food costs are controlled and within budgetary restraints.
  • Helps supervise food preparation using techniques that conserve nutritional value, flavor, and appearance.
  • Assures food is prepared and served within scheduled time frames.
  • Helps with room service as indicated, demonstrating good customer service skills in all interactions.
  • Performs quality control monitoring related to patient nutrition care plan.
  • Routinely inspects the dietary area and nutritional areas on the patient floors for compliance with current applicable regulations and standards.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of modified diets and passes diet exam annually.
