About The Position

The Aviation Department of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is seeking a dynamic and diverse leader to fill the role of Assistant Manager at the JFK Airport Operations Center (AOC). This position is pivotal in overseeing and coordinating all aspects of airport operations, ensuring that real-time information is effectively processed and disseminated to mitigate operational disruptions and enhance the overall flow of operations at JFK Airport. The AOC serves as the central hub for communication among various stakeholders, including Port Authority personnel, airlines, air terminal operators, and federal agencies such as the Transportation Security Administration and Customs & Border Protection. The Assistant Manager will play a crucial role in facilitating the airport's mission and governance initiatives by maintaining a consistent flow of information across all functional groups, thereby supporting critical service delivery. In this role, the Assistant Manager will engage in a variety of responsibilities that include routine coordination, planning, and management of the Common Operating Picture (COP). The position requires the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and data analysis to support real-time situational awareness and daily operational planning. The Assistant Manager will also analyze existing business processes to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions that integrate data and technology effectively. As the ranking management representative on-site outside of normal business hours, the Assistant Manager will coordinate facility operations, maintenance, and construction activities, as well as respond to airport incidents and emergencies. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for the ongoing development of the AOC and Emergency Operations Center (EOC), including operational plans, standard operating procedures, and process documentation. Training staff and ensuring equipment readiness will also be key components of this role. Building and maintaining effective relationships with AOC partners and the local airport community is essential. Candidates must be available to respond to airport incidents 24/7, including holidays, and will work a schedule that includes shifts covering afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, with additional hours as project responsibilities dictate.
