About The Position

The Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the management of daily airport operations across various departments such as customer service, baggage handling, and ground support. This position involves assisting in staff supervision, coordinating operational activities, and ensuring compliance with airport policies and aviation regulations. The Assistant Manager addresses operational challenges, assists in implementing procedural improvements, and contributes to staff training and development. Additionally, you will engage with various stakeholders, including airlines and airport authorities, to ensure smooth and efficient airport operations.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Must have a valid state-issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • 5 Years in airport operations or a related field, with a background in supervisory roles
  • Strong understanding of airport procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in operational planning and staff management
  • Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including the use of electronic devices including IPads/Tablets, Computers, and Mobile Devices
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, both in-person and through electronic means
  • Pass a background check and drug screen
  • Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)
  • Airlines are 24/7, so we need our team members to be flexible to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must be flexible to work extended hours on occasion to support our field operations

Responsibilities

  • Support the Manager in overseeing daily operations within various airport service departments
  • Assist in managing staff schedules, work assignments, and operational activities
  • Help implement policies and procedures to enhance service efficiency and quality
  • Provide training and guidance to staff to ensure compliance with airport regulations and company standards
  • Participate in the recruitment and training of new employees
  • Assist in budget preparation and expense management for the department
  • Handle customer inquiries and complaints, providing timely and effective resolutions
  • Coordinate with other airport departments and external agencies for smooth operation
  • Monitor and report on staff performance, providing feedback and recommending improvements
  • Ensure all safety and security protocols are strictly followed by the team
  • Participate in emergency response planning and execution as required
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of airport operations and industry trends
  • Assist in developing strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency
  • Oversee the maintenance and proper use of equipment and facilities
  • Prepare reports and presentations for management on operational activities and achievements
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by management
