About The Position

The Assistant Maintenance Supervisor at the Murfreesboro Container facility is responsible for compiling reports and statistics related to key performance measures for the maintenance department, overseeing the planning process for maintenance projects, and leading various Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives under the direction of the facility Maintenance Manager. This role involves building strong partnerships with maintenance staff, fostering a collaborative environment, and actively engaging with team members on the plant floor to provide direction and remove barriers. Key duties include managing the maintenance budget, utilizing systems like KIWI and SAP to track performance, managing the work order system, conducting weekly maintenance priority meetings, and planning maintenance projects by scheduling personnel and managing budgets. The supervisor also coordinates predictive/preventative maintenance activities, leads EHS initiatives such as air permitting and HAZMAT compliance, manages storeroom inventory, develops kitting processes, and assists with capital projects. The position may also involve filling in for the Maintenance Manager and potentially supervising a shift or team of hourly maintenance technicians.

Requirements

  • Solid Computer/System skill set is required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Prior supervisory/leadership experience and/or demonstrated situational leadership skills is required.
  • Prior mechanical, electrical and/or maintenance troubleshooting experience is required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritize work effectively is required.
  • Willingness to work on Off shift as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience utilizing SAP, KIWI and/or ePAD is highly preferred.
  • Corrugated experience is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience with predictive/preventative maintenance programs, inventory and capital project planning is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the compilation of reports & statistics related to key performance measures for the maintenance department, the planning process for maintenance projects and leading various EHS initiatives related to maintenance & environmental compliance under the direction of the facility Maintenance Manager.
  • Builds strong partnerships with maintenance staff and fosters a collaborative environment to ensure alignment on priorities and successful execution of projects.
  • Actively engages with team members on the plant floor to not only provide direction but also work alongside them, demonstrating tasks and removing barriers, promoting a culture of teamwork and shared accountability.
  • Manages the maintenance budget for the facility including running and reviewing SAP reports and maintaining a spreadsheet of YTD expenditures.
  • Utilizes systems, including KIWI and SAP, to track maintenance key performance measures, including mechanical/electrical downtime, maintenance reliability indices, maintenance breakdowns, etc.
  • Manages the work order system and tracks work orders through completion.
  • Compiles a report related to work order efficiency for the leadership team at the facility.
  • Conducts a weekly maintenance priority meeting with the maintenance and production leadership team at the facility to review the open notifications and work order backlog.
  • Responsible for planning maintenance projects including scheduling of personnel (employees and contractors), maintaining project budget, accessing machine manuals, ensuring needed parts are in inventory, working with production team to schedule time and ensuring work orders are in the system, updated and completed throughout the project.
  • Works in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager and local leadership team to schedule predictive/preventative maintenance activities to keep all equipment in good working order.
  • Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, leads some Environmental Health & Safety initiatives in the facility including air permitting, storm water compliance, HAZMAT, wastewater compliance, roof maintenance, Infrared inspections, compressed air management, cooling tower/chiller, air handlers, fire & safety system, inspections, contractor training, employee training, electrical, hot work, etc.
  • Responsible for the inventory/parts management of the facility’s storeroom, including maintenance of inventory in the system (SAP), ensuring proper inventory levels are maintained, and storeroom organization routine.
  • Responsible for working with Maintenance Manager and machine champions to develop kitting processes for use throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Responsible for Machine Champion Process, to include a monthly review with machine champions of machine condition monitoring routes, and backlog work orders.
  • Ensure champions have access to and properly utilize FFF information.
  • Review monthly machine center metrics with champions, to include kit & deliver opportunities and maintenance successes.
  • Assists Maintenance Manager as needed in the development and management of capital projects in the ePAD system.
  • Fills in for maintenance manager as needed to manage the entire facility maintenance department and may be assigned direct supervisory responsibility for a shift or team of maintenance hourly technicians.
