About The Position

The Assistant Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing and directly assisting with the daily maintenance of the hotel, including troubleshooting, repairs, and managing the Maintenance Team. This position ensures a safe and comfortable environment for guests and employees by maintaining the physical plant of the hotel in compliance with safety, cleanliness, and operational standards. The Assistant Maintenance Manager may provide guest transportation as requested.

Requirements

  • Valid Drivers License Required
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening, weekends and holidays
  • Reliable and consistent attendance
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements frequently
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, climb and walk on uneven surfaces on a frequent basis
  • Must be able to walk, climb ladders and work outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat)
  • Must be able to climb stairs both inside and outside and frequently lift 50 lbs. and often exert up to 20 pounds of force to push, pull, carry, lift or otherwise move objects

  • 2+ Years Management Experience
  • 3+ Years of Progressive Experience in a Hotel
  • Experience / Training in: Commercial Refrigeration, Boilers, Plumbing, Air Conditioning, Building Construction, Carpentry, Fire Systems, Sewer and Water, Boilers, Electrical Breakers, Janitorial Services, Energy Conservation, Environmental, Hazardous Waste, Hygiene and Sanitation
  • Maintenance and repairs of all infrastructures of hotel systems

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate the daily and weekly maintenance schedules to ensure adequate coverage and timely completion of tasks
  • Act as the Maintenance Manager during their absence, providing leadership and making decisions to maintain smooth operations
  • Communicate scheduling adjustments, assignments, and priorities clearly to the team
  • Collaborate with the AGM and GM on staffing strategies and scheduling needs
  • Lead coaching conversations and provide constructive feedback to team members
  • Handle disciplinary actions when necessary, with support and guidance from the AGM and GM
  • Maintain accurate documentation of coaching and disciplinary actions for consistency and compliance
  • Support a culture of accountability and professional growth within the Maintenance team
  • Manage daily maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repairs for electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural systems
  • Ensure all maintenance activities align with safety regulations and hotel standards
  • Step into technical roles as needed to support the team in resolving complex issues
  • Participate in the hotel's preventative maintenance program, ensuring guest rooms, public areas, and hotel equipment are maintained properly
  • Assist with day-to-day operations such as trash removal, pool maintenance, grounds upkeep, and security rounds, ensuring tasks are completed in a timely manner
  • Mentor and train Maintenance Technicians, fostering skill development and readiness for leadership opportunities
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in conducting performance evaluations and identifying areas for improvement
  • Promote collaboration and a positive work environment within the team
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, records, and reports
  • Support the Maintenance Manager with budgeting, cost tracking, and vendor management tasks
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with OSHA, fire safety laws, and other regulatory standards
  • Provides input on screening, interviewing and hiring decisions that are made along side property leadership
  • Provide guest transportation as needed
  • Comply with timekeeping policies by recording hours worked and obtaining approval for any overtime
  • Adhere to attendance policies and maintain regular availability for scheduled shifts
  • May participate in drivers program or other duties as assigned
