About The Position

The Assistant Machine Operator is responsible for all activities associated with safely assisting in the operation of production machines. This includes setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations to meet customer demand. The role emphasizes safety, quality control, and efficiency in production processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions related to quality, safety, and job packets.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately and calculate figures such as percentages and measurements.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in various forms.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior work experience in the packaging industry (paper, plastics, converting).
  • 6 months of experience in a manufacturing operation.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely at all times and comply with Pratt Industries Safety rules and operating procedures.
  • Participate in the Plant Safety Committee.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs) at all times.
  • Learn and comply with Pratt Industries quality procedures and policies.
  • Assist the Machine Operator in maximizing equipment utilization by operating machinery at available capacity and speed.
  • Improve setup times and reduce downtime daily.
  • Identify and report mechanical concerns to the Production Supervisor or relevant personnel.
  • Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in work areas.
  • Learn the capabilities and capacities of machines to drive efficiencies.
  • Assist in completing necessary reports accurately and timely.
  • Submit maintenance work order requests for needed repairs.
  • Cross-train on other machines and learn various positions in the plant.
  • Adhere to production schedules and recommend optimizations.
  • Be available for overtime and work on holidays as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
