About The Position

Are you enthusiastic about hospitality, people, and beautiful places? By working at Yellowstone National Park, you will get all three! As an Assistant Location Controller, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day administrative functions that keep the park running smoothly. The Assistant Location Controllers are responsible for managing the accounting operation at one of our 6 villages throughout the park. In this position, one must ensure accurate reporting of sales revenue, maintain security of the location's monetary assets, and supervise the other location accounting personnel for the summer season.

Requirements

  • Accounting degree and/or related work experience
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • Supervisory skills
  • Motivational, organizational, and time management skills
  • Knowledge of general office procedures
  • Office machine skills, especially PC experience
  • Knowledge of the following PC software: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, IBM Client Access
  • Knowledge of the following software: Kronos Timekeeping

Nice To Haves

  • General cash handling experience preferred
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and timely daily sales summaries to the Xanterra General Accounting Office (GAO) and relevant location departments
  • Assist in managing the accounting staff, including scheduling, training, evaluating performance, coaching, and motivating employees (1 to 11 members)
  • Help maintain the accuracy and security of the house bank while managing cash flow effectively
  • Ensure strict adherence to Xanterra's accounting policies and procedures by all departments involved in cash handling and accounting duties
  • Maintain the security of corporate assets and control all numbered documents at the location
  • Provide training and assistance to other department staff regarding money handling and accounting policies as needed
  • Communicate with the GAO and other department managers, offering assistance as required
  • Perform various administrative tasks, including auditing functions, while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
