About The Position

Library Branch Manager oversees the operations of a specific library branch, ensuring smooth daily functions, staff supervision, community engagement, and policy implementation. Assistant Library Branch Managers lead and mentor branch staff and communicate the Library’s mission and strategic plan as part of the library’s Leadership Team. Assistant Library Branch Managers will work closely with the Library Branch Manager to support day-to-day operations of the branch and implement workflows and service plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business or organizational administration/management, or related field, from an accredited college or university.
  • Three years of supervisory experience assisting with the management of a library or similar public service facility.
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Library Science.
  • Bilingual skills (speaking and writing proficiency in English and Spanish) are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Supports Library Branch Manager (Tier 2) with managing day-to-day operations of a branch library, ensuring service delivery hours are observed.
  • Acts as custodian of all agency monies and inventory.
  • Assists Library Branch Manager (Tier 2) with the implementation of workflows and service plans ensuring they are carried out effectively and efficiently.
  • Communicates Library’s mission and values to employees and accomplishes Library’s goals and objectives.
  • Supervises staff and oversees professional development of employees including onboarding, training, individual 1-on-1 meetings, performance evaluations, and progressive discipline when needed.
  • Oversees implementing, scheduling and delivery of programming following Learning Experiences curriculum, guidelines, and standards.
  • Ensures all statistics, reports, and surveys are completed correctly and submitted on time.
  • Submits facility request work orders in a timely manner and follow up as needed.
  • Reports building, personnel, customer, services issues to Manager.
  • Trains, schedules, and supervises library volunteers.
  • May track, review and approve employee timecards, hours worked, leave and accruals using timekeeping software.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
