About The Position

Hudson Printing is looking for an Assistant Large Format Production Manager to oversee the daily operations of the large format department. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient operation of Vutek LX3 and HP Latex L2700 printers, maintaining high-quality output, and supporting production management to meet tight deadlines.

Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Graphic Arts, Printing Technology, or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in large format printing, with expertise in operating Vutek printers and HP Latex technology.
• Strong understanding of large format materials, substrates, and printing techniques.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality and deadlines.
• Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

• Take primary responsibility for running the Vutek LX3 and HP Latex L2700 printers, ensuring high-quality output and optimal machine performance.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on both printers to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Troubleshoot printer issues and adjust settings to accommodate various materials, ensuring color accuracy and production efficiency.
• Collaborate with the team to prepare print files and ensure correct setup for the Vutek LX3 and HP Latex L2700.
• Assist the Large Format Production Manager in organizing daily production schedules and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
• Prepare and manage projects throughout the production process, including file setup, printing, and finishing stages such as laminating or cutting.
• Record and monitor reprints, material usage, and project progress using internal systems like Google Docs or production management software.
• Perform detailed quality checks on printed materials for accuracy in size, color, material type, and overall print clarity.
• Ensure all printed items meet both internal quality standards and client specifications.
• Keep the print production area organized, ensuring materials are properly logged and stored.
• Assist in managing and stocking hardware supplies, such as banner stands, grommets, and other finishing tools.
• Work closely with the Large Format Production Manager, team members, and other departments to maintain seamless production workflows.
• Communicate promptly about any production issues or delays to management.
• Serve as a backup liaison to the sewing department to coordinate timelines and project requirements.
• Address day-to-day production challenges, including printer performance, material compatibility, and file setup issues.
• Provide solutions to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain quality standards.
