About The Position

The Assistant IT Trainer is a part-time position at A Knock at Midnight (AKAM), a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of residents in the Auburn Gresham, Englewood, West Englewood, and West Chatham communities. The role focuses on improving digital literacy skills among young adults through hands-on mentoring and support. The Assistant IT Trainer will help participants develop essential skills to pass industry-level certification exams, such as Microsoft Office and ADOBE. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about education and community service, providing a fulfilling opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young adults.

Requirements

  • Must have at least a bachelor's degree in education.
  • At least 2 to 3 years of experience in urban education or vocational settings, serving low-income and minority students.
  • Knowledge of teaching digital literacy.
  • Patience and the ability to remain calm in fast-paced work environments.
  • Ability to create optimal conditions for learning or teaching new concepts.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Ability to relate well to young adults.
  • Passionate about helping others succeed and serving the community.
  • Flexible and open to change.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to teach digital literacy skills to young adults.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with young adults to help them successfully pass industry-level certification exams.
  • Collaborate with other educators to develop literacy strategies for young adults.
  • Work with the Vocational Trainer to plan literacy initiatives and outcomes for social and economic advancement.
  • Monitor, track, and evaluate achievement data for program evaluation purposes.
