ProACT Academy offers classes in first aid, CPR, AED, babysitting, lifeguarding, emergency medical response, first aid for severe trauma, and much more! Job Title: Assistant Instructor Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced American Red Cross Instructor to join our team. The Instructor will be responsible for teaching various American Red Cross courses, including but not limited to lay-responder First Aid, CPR, AED, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and other health and safety training programs. The instructor will conduct an average of 1-2 classes per week, with class duration varying based on the specific course and whether it is delivered through blended learning or instructor-led formats. Work Schedule: Frequency: 1-2 classes per week, scheduled at the convenience of the instructor within the Wisconsin area. Class Duration: Each class typically runs from 3-6 hours, not including preparation time. Arrival/Departure: Instructors are expected to arrive at the training facility 30 minutes prior to the start time and stay up to 30 minutes after the class for setup, takedown, and cleaning. Flexibility: Hours may vary based on the demand and community needs for different American Red Cross courses.

Requirements

• Current certification as an American Red Cross Instructor for the courses being taught.
• Minimum: One (1) year of experience in teaching American Red Cross courses or similar training programs, including instructional experience in a classroom or clinical setting.
• American Red Cross Instructor certification in at least one program, such as BLS, ACLS, or PALS.
• Strong knowledge of the guidelines, protocols, and procedures relevant to the courses being taught.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively convey complex information to a diverse audience.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage class schedules and adapt to varying class times (blended learning and instructor-led formats).
• Light: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds maximum, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Preferred: Three (3) years of experience in teaching multiple American Red Cross courses or similar training programs.
• Preferred: Additional certifications in other American Red Cross programs.
• Experience with online or blended learning platforms.
• Background in healthcare, emergency medical services, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Conduct various American Red Cross training courses, including BLS, ACLS, PALS, and others as certified.
• Prepare and organize course materials, ensuring all necessary equipment is available and in working order.
• Provide hands-on training and instruction in accordance with American Red Cross guidelines and standards.
• Assess and evaluate students' performance, providing constructive feedback to ensure skill proficiency.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
• Sanitize equipment after each class.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest guidelines and updates across all relevant American Red Cross training programs.
• Ensure a safe and effective learning environment for all participants.
