About The Position

We are currently searching for our next Flavorist Assistant to join our Creative & Design team in South Brunswick, NJ. In this role you will work under the guidance of creative Flavorists to support the development of new flavors for customers as well as the introduction of new ingredients to the C&D community. Additionally you will: Understand and support formulation process including accurate compounding of flavors using a balance, proper raw material handling and measuring physical properties of finished products Maintain an organized laboratory, manage and transfer raw materials and flavor stock Prepare raw materials for evaluation Observe laboratory and plant safety rules and GMP’s, Interface with cross-category departments including design, sales, QC and sensory as needed for completion of job tasks Support customer visits as needed, apply flavors into bases and participate in tasting and product evaluations as required Understand key steps in the project lifecycle from creation to application through production scale-up Build basic understanding of C&D and R&D library/tools within the IFF tool box

Requirements

  • Strong computer skills, including: SAP, Microsoft Office, and other IFF systems
  • Strong practical math skills (e.g. calculating and preparing dilutions of flavoring materials)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact productively on internal/external basis
  • Ability to taste and discriminate sensory properties of various flavors & application types
  • Ability and willingness to collaborate with a cross-functional team and be detail oriented
  • Fluent in English
  • Well organized self-starter with desire to develop new skills
  • Four Year Degree (BS/BA in biological or chemical science preferred) with 1-2 years of lab experience
  • Alternately, a minimum of 5 years industrial laboratory or chemical industry work experience, coupled with a strong desire and ability to continue education and professional development and growth
