About The Position

The Assistant Housekeeping Manager supports the daily operation of the Housekeeping Department, ensuring that guest rooms, public areas, heart-of-house spaces, and laundry operations, when applicable, consistently meet the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, safety, and brand compliance. This role works closely with Front Office, Engineering, and other operational departments to ensure rooms are ready on time, service issues are resolved promptly, resources are used efficiently, and guest satisfaction goals are achieved while supporting departmental financial objectives.

Requirements

  • Degree, diploma, or formal studies in Hospitality Management, Tourism, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in Housekeeping, Rooms Operations, or a related hotel operations area.
  • Supervisory experience in a hospitality environment, preferably in a full-service hotel, resort, or luxury property.
  • Strong knowledge of housekeeping standards, room inspection procedures, linen and inventory control, and interdepartmental coordination.
  • Ability to analyze operational reports, productivity data, labor scheduling, and service metrics.
  • Proficiency in hotel systems/PMS and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good command of English; additional languages are an advantage.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as required by the operation.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day management of the housekeeping operation by setting priorities, assigning tasks, and ensuring service standards are consistently met.
  • Oversee the cleanliness, maintenance, and overall presentation of guest rooms, public areas, employee areas, and laundry facilities, as applicable.
  • Conduct room and public area inspections to ensure quality standards are achieved and corrective actions are taken when needed.
  • Coordinate closely with Front Office regarding room status, arrivals, departures, VIP rooms, rush rooms, and special requests to ensure timely room readiness.
  • Partner with Engineering to report, monitor, and follow up on preventive and corrective maintenance issues in guest rooms and public spaces.
  • Monitor inventory levels of linen, guest supplies, cleaning chemicals, uniforms, and operating equipment, ensuring proper control and cost efficiency.
  • Support the administration of lost and found in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Handle guest concerns, service issues, and special requests promptly and professionally, ensuring effective service recovery.
  • Supervise staffing levels, scheduling, attendance, productivity, and daily workflow according to business demands.
  • Assist in recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, performance management, and disciplinary processes, while fostering a culture of respect, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, safety and security standards, hygiene regulations, and proper use of chemicals and equipment.
  • Support the Housekeeping Manager or Executive Housekeeper in monitoring payroll, departmental expenses, controllable costs, and budget performance.
  • Assume leadership responsibility for the department in the absence of the Housekeeping Manager, ensuring operational continuity and sound decision-making.
