As an Assistant House Manager, you’ll use your experience in direct care to support, guide, and empower your team to deliver the highest quality care and service possible. This role combines leadership and hands-on support — giving you the chance to develop your supervisory skills while continuing to make a direct impact on the lives of the individuals you serve. What You’ll Do As an Assistant House Manager, you’ll work closely with the House Manager to ensure the smooth, safe, and successful daily operation of the residential program. This role combines hands-on direct care with team leadership — giving you the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals while guiding and supporting your coworkers. Schedule: This position requires flexibility to work 1st and 2nd shifts, including occasional weekends or holidays, to ensure consistent support and oversight of the home You’ll balance leadership responsibilities with meaningful direct care — helping both staff and individuals thrive under your guidance. Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required; a degree in Human Services or related field is preferred.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to successfully complete all background checks, physical exams, and required training.
  • Commitment to modeling LARC’s values of respect, inclusion, and empowerment.
  • Lift or transfer individuals, push wheelchairs, and assist with mobility as needed (up to 50 lbs or ¼ body weight).
  • Walk, bend, kneel, and climb stairs as part of daily routines.
  • Remain engaged, attentive, and supportive throughout the shift.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally, and complete documentation accurately.
  • Work in residential and community environments, both indoors and outdoors.

Nice To Haves

  • A degree in Human Services or related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, and medication administration.
  • Supporting individuals in maintaining personal health, safety, and comfort.
  • Encouraging independence and skill development through daily engagement.
  • Providing transportation to appointments, recreational activities, or community outings.
  • Promoting community integration through shopping, social events, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of services, incidents, and progress notes.
  • Responding to emergencies calmly and professionally, ensuring safety and dignity for all involved.
  • Mentoring and supporting staff to build confidence and competence in their roles.
  • Leading by example and modeling best practices in person-centered care, communication, and teamwork.
  • Assisting with interviewing, hiring, and training new employees to ensure they understand LARC’s mission and values.
  • Planning, assigning, and directing work; providing regular feedback and performance appraisals.
  • Addressing employee concerns and recognizing achievements, collaborating with the House Manager on corrective actions when needed.
  • Maintaining daily operations, ensuring the home is safe, organized, and welcoming.
  • Upholding quality standards by ensuring person-centered plans are followed, documentation is accurate, and goals are achieved.
