About The Position

Assistant Home Shopping Manager – Job Description Position Summary The Assistant Home Shopping Manager supports the Home Shopping (HS) Manager in leading the day‑to‑day operations of the online grocery fulfillment program. This role ensures accurate order picking, on‑time delivery, excellent customer service, and compliance with company standards. The assistant manager helps oversee pickers/drivers, maintains department productivity, and supports safety, shrink control, and labor management.

Requirements

  • Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred.
  • Strong organization and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to coach, train, and support team performance.
  • Comfortable using mobile technology, handheld scanners, and basic reporting tools.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and push up to company‑required weight limits.
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting.
  • Ability to work in varied temperature zones (dry, refrigerated, frozen).
  • May require extended periods of computer or handheld device use.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all online orders are picked accurately, on time, and according to company freshness and quality standards.
  • Resolve customer issues related to substitutions, missing items, or delivery concerns.
  • Support the team in delivering a friendly, professional customer experience.
  • Assist with daily scheduling, task delegation, and workflow planning for pickers and drivers.
  • Maintain equipment readiness (handhelds, carts, totes, delivery vehicles).
  • Monitor order queues to ensure fulfillment deadlines are consistently met.
  • Uphold all food safety, temperature, and sanitation requirements.
  • Provide daily direction to the picking and delivery team.
  • Support onboarding and ongoing training for associates (picking accuracy, substitution standards, delivery protocols).
  • Help maintain a positive, productive, and safety‑focused team culture.
  • Monitor stock levels to reduce out‑of‑stocks and minimize substitutions.
  • Communicate inventory issues with department managers to ensure accuracy between online availability and in‑store stock.
  • Support shrink control by ensuring accurate item scanning and proper product rotation.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, safety, and company vehicle policies (where applicable).
  • Complete daily and weekly reporting as delegated by the HS Manager.
  • Assist in ensuring adherence to labor laws, scheduling requirements, and company SOPs.
