About The Position

North Plainfield High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant High School Wrestling Coach to support the Head Coach in leading the cheerleading program. The successful candidate will assist with organizing practices, supervising student-athletes, promoting teamwork and school spirit, and ensuring a positive and safe environment for all participants.

Requirements

• Prior wrestling coaching or competitive experience preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain before the season).
• Completion of required NJSIAA and district coaching certifications.
• Commitment to promoting academic achievement and personal growth.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and conducting daily practices and conditioning sessions.
• Provide technical instruction in wrestling techniques, rules, and strategy.
• Supervise and mentor student-athletes during practices, competitions, and travel.
• Support the Head Coach in developing match lineups and scouting opponents.
• Ensure athlete safety and adherence to all school, conference, and NJSIAA regulations.
• Model positive behavior and uphold the athletic department's philosophy and values.
• Collaborate with the Head Coach and Athletic Director on team logistics and communication.
