About The Position

The Assistant - Health Information Services provides support services for the Health Information Management (HIM) department. This role involves a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the efficient management of health information.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Health information experience preferred.
  • Experience with electronic record systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of electronic record systems.
  • Knowledge of Michigan Release of Information laws and standards.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Skill in interpersonal relationships.
  • Skill in accessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing goals and objectives in a manner that helps others achieve their goals.
  • Scan patient records.
  • Prepare patient records for batch scanning.
  • Perform quality control and validation for records scanned.
  • Assist patients who walk in requesting records.
  • Respond to telephone requests for patient health information.
  • Assist physicians, offices, and staff with HIM related questions.
  • Combine duplicate medical record numbers.
  • Assist with forms control.
