About The Position

The Assistant Head Teller at Delta Community Credit Union plays a crucial role in supporting the Branch Manager by overseeing vault operations and acting as a manager in their absence. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory policies, training staff, and maintaining high levels of customer service. The Assistant Head Teller will also evaluate teller performance, manage cash operations, and assist in achieving sales and service goals while fostering a positive work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of teller and/or cash handling experience.
  • 1+ years of customer service and/or sales experience.
  • 1+ years of credit union or financial services industry experience.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, technical, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other bank-related applications.
  • Ability to sit/stand for approximately 8 hours a day.
  • Willingness to work on weekends and extended hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field.
  • 2+ years of branch operations knowledge with teller experience.
  • 1+ years of operations management/supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assume all vault operational duties in the absence of the Head Teller.
  • Serve as acting manager in the absence of the Branch Manager and Assistant Branch Manager.
  • Train staff and ensure compliance with regulatory and security policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate tellers' performance, outages, and attendance.
  • Monitor overtime and establish effective employee relations and morale.
  • Uncover members' needs and make appropriate referrals.
  • Ensure tellers are aware of and participating in sales and service goals achievement.
  • Assist the Head Teller with mentoring and coaching the teller team.
  • Hold periodic staff meetings to discuss improvements and changes in procedures.
  • Handle complex and escalated issues.
  • Perform cash forecasting and manage cash shipments and receipts.
  • Order and balance negotiable instruments and card stock in the absence of the Head Teller.
  • Electronically scan checks to the Federal Reserve Bank for collection.
  • Research posting errors and perform audits according to policies and guidelines.
  • Balance daily ATM and night depository transactions.
  • Process teller duties including deposits, withdrawals, and payments.
  • Manage branch supply budget in the absence of the Head Teller.
  • Operate cash dispense and recycling machines.
  • Educate members on banking technology and digital solutions.
