About The Position

POSITION PURPOSE: The Assistant Head of Middle School plays a critical role in supporting the school's educational mission and ensuring a positive and effective learning environment for students and staff. Working closely with the Head of Middle School, teachers, and administrative staff, the Assistant Head of Middle School contributes to the overall leadership and management of the school, focusing on effective teaching and learning, student behavior, teacher support, and school culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education required
  • Five or more years of experience in the classroom as an instructional leader with proven results of student success
  • At least two years of experience working with Middle School-aged students
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to accomplish Middle School benchmarks and goals
  • Ability to be versed in PLC’s and able to lead staff in those meetings
  • Ability to disaggregate data to create action plans to support teachers and students
  • Ability to engage staff, students, and families in courageous conversations that support student growth and change
  • Ability to deliver clear and effective feedback to staff in a timely manner
  • Track record of impacting the climate and culture of the school in a positive manner for both students and staff
  • Exhibits strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possesses proficient computer and technology skills.
  • Understands the Christian view of the world and life as it relates to all parts of school life, including academics, athletics, arts, and technology.
  • Knows the developmental characteristics of Middle School aged students
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and supervise adults and children
  • Understands the details and operations of working in a school environment
  • All employees must commit to performing their duties in accordance with the stated mission and purpose of the school, CPA 101, CPA Policies and Procedures Manual, and the Westminster Confession of Faith. All employees must be evangelical Christians and active members of an evangelical Christian church.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment strategies through the PLC process in the Middle School.
  • Collaborate with teachers to improve instructional practices and student learning outcomes through the PLC process.
  • Support teacher development by observing classrooms through consistent walkthroughs and teacher evaluations to provide timely and appropriate feedback to develop educator growth.
  • Partner with teachers to identify students who are not meeting academic expectations and proactively create support plans with parents and teachers.
  • Support teacher professional growth through building strong relationships with Academy supports (instructional coaches and administrative team).
  • Along with other members of the administrative team, implement and oversee student support programs, specifically those related to behavioral needs (Behavior plans, Saturday School, etc.).
  • Foster a positive and inclusive school climate where students feel safe, respected, and engaged in learning.
  • Connect with students in response to identified needs within the school, as reported by teachers, administration, or students. Topics may include social development, conflict resolution, family issues and making healthy choices.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of school policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Work with Enrollment and the Assistant Head of MS-Student Life to plan and coordinate prospective new student/parent visit days.
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of details and logistics surrounding grade level trips and retreats.
  • Provide student support through student accountability and discipline to ensure adherence to Academy discipline procedures.
  • Partner with the administrative team to provide specific grade level support each year (attending ILP meetings, going on trips, supervising lunch, meeting with families, etc.).
  • Work with the administrative team to ensure all students are registered for appropriate classes.
  • Support technology implementation within the building through coordinating with the Academy technology team.
  • Analyze student discipline data to identify trends, areas of improvement/success in order to create communication plans with all stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Assist with the organization of parent-teacher conferences and other Middle School events.
