About The Position

The Assistant Operations Manager for the Harvest Floor is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of all aspects of the Harvest floor. This role involves overseeing efficiency through monitoring production, scanning make-sheets, and discussing daily goals with Superintendents. The Assistant Operations Manager directs Superintendents regarding production volume, quality, and cost, while maintaining acceptable yield levels on all products and ensuring they are produced to specification. Daily safety walks are performed to correct any non-compliance issues, and the role includes helping to develop the management team of the Harvest floor. Training and developing Superintendents is a key responsibility, providing guidance on managerial and teamwork skills to achieve department objectives. The Assistant Operations Manager works closely with the Quality Assurance Department to enforce product quality and food safety standards, maintains positive relationships with government agencies, and addresses any USDA regulatory issues. Additionally, this position contributes to the ongoing development of JBS policies and procedures and performs all other duties as directed by the Operations Manager and General Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; preferred college degree.
  • Minimum 5 years' supervisory experience in the meat industry.
  • Previous experience working on the Harvest floor.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills and leadership qualities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships.
  • Extensive knowledge of meat products, equipment, and specifications.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including Saturdays.
