About The Position

TCG operates 11 Community Kids Place (CKP) Out-of-School Time (OST) programs throughout the cities of Lawrence and Methuen. TCG partners with these school districts and several individual schools to provide over 400 students an opportunity to engage in high-quality programming through field trips, access to community non-profit partners, and more time with their school-day teachers and community. Programs operate throughout the school year and over several weeks during the summer. The ultimate goal of TCG’s Community Kids Place Program (CKP) is to help schools achieve their learning outcomes and develop students into global citizens with modern skills. Programs follow the DESE 21st Century Community Learning Centers model, which focuses on improving academic and social emotional outcomes for students through hands-on, cumulative project-based learning. In addition, programs are licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care to ensure the utmost safety and environmental quality. Job Description As an Assistant Group Leader at CKP, you can gain experience in a fun and enriching environment. This part-time position (3:00 - 6:00pm) is ideal for high school students or any professional who is interested in developing classroom, youth development or mentoring skills. An ideal candidate will believe in the overall mission of TCG and serve as a leader to young students. Educator/Group Leaders must be available to work during regularly scheduled school vacations and in summer.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 16 years old.
  • Must complete CORI, SORI and fingerprint scan in accordance with regulations set forth by the Department of Early Education and Care prior to employment
  • Creative and fun personality to implement curriculum and activities
  • Evidence of physical examination within one year prior to employment
  • Evidence of immunizations against Measles, Mumps and Rubella
  • Maintain current infant/child CPR and First Aid Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a positive, safe, fun, and memorable quality experience to all children and families involved in TCG’s afterschool and summer programs
  • Provide a physically and emotionally safe and fun environment for children to thrive
  • Encourage children to participate in all activities and realize their full potential
  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor to children enrolled
  • Assist in maintaining and updating children’s health, safety and emergency records
  • Maintain an attitude of flexibility and assist the Site Coordinator/Director/Assistant Director in immediate and necessary tasks
  • Participate in staff meetings, parent meetings, workshops and on-going trainings
  • Complete all required certifications
  • All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
