About The Position

We are looking for Assistant Group Leaders who will be responsible for planning and facilitating learning, recreational, arts and developmentally appropriate activities for youth tied to the mission of PAL. The Assistant Group Leader will report to the Center Director.

Requirements

• High School Diploma / GED OR 1 year experience working with children under 13 years of age.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Strong Classroom management and behavior management skills.
• Desire to learn and grow.
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Ability to complete DOHMH/DOE clearances and fingerprints including that an annual physical has been completed in the last year.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that age-appropriate activities are implemented for youth in K-8th grades.
• At all times, ensure safety, structure, and learning.
• Provide supervision during field trips, transitions, and meal times.
• Build positive relationships with youth and adults and serve as a role model with respect to demeanor, communication, and behavior.
• Attend meetings with staff, parents, volunteers, and community residents as needed.
• Interact with parents and keep open lines of communication.
• Able to work 35 hours a week (7 hours a day, 5 days a week)
• Able to attend 15 hours of orientation prior to the beginning of programming.
• Able to attend scheduled staff meetings.
