About The Position

The Golf Assistant Superintendent is to assist the Golf Course Superintendent with the maintenance, operation and management of the golf course(s). In the absence of the Superintendent, it is the responsibility of the Assistant Golf Superintendent to ensure that all areas of the operation are functioning appropriately. This position manages key Grounds Associates, Interns, Irrigation Technician, and Spray Technician. The incumbent provides overall assistance in daily scheduling of activities pertaining to the total staff, as well as being responsible for the satisfactory completion of activities under his/her control. This position must also perform accurate record keeping and manage the pesticide and fertilizer application operations assigned to his/her area of responsibility.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Agronomy or Ornamental Horticulture preferred; Associate Degree in Turf Management required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in golf course maintenance.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws affecting golf course operations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; fluency in Spanish is helpful.
  • Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Attendance and certification at various GCSAA educational seminars.
  • Tournament preparation experience.
  • Some knowledge of personal and/or desktop computers.

Responsibilities

  • Serve in the Superintendent's capacity during his/her absence.
  • Daily management of the assigned staff including scheduling and completion of tasks.
  • Train and develop staff regarding equipment operations and performance of tasks.
  • Maintain and manage pesticide and fertilizer record keeping.
  • Supervise and assist with pesticide and fertilizer applications.
  • Assist in personnel management and evaluation, employee safety and discipline.
  • Mentor, train and develop staff to achieve Trump Organization standards.
  • Tour the golf course regularly to maintain quality standards.
  • Attend local Superintendent Association seminars and meetings.
