The Assistant Grocery Manager supports the Grocery Manager in overseeing daily grocery department operations, ensuring efficient execution of merchandising, inventory control, labor management, and customer service standards. Requirements

  • Previous grocery, retail, or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced retail environment
  • Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift, stock, and stand for extended periods

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily grocery department operations, including stocking, rotation, receiving, and merchandising
  • Ensure shelves, displays, and promotional areas are properly stocked and maintained
  • Monitor inventory levels and support ordering and replenishment processes
  • Help control shrink, damages, and out‑of‑stocks
  • Assist in training, scheduling, and supervising grocery associates
  • Provide coaching, direction, and feedback to team members
  • Support performance management and accountability standards
  • Lead the department in the Grocery Manager’s absence
  • Ensure a positive shopping experience by maintaining a clean, organized, and customer‑ready department
  • Assist customers with product inquiries, location, and concerns
  • Address customer issues promptly and professionally
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures
  • Support proper product handling, rotation, and backroom organization
  • Promote a safe working environment for associates and customers
  • Execute planograms, price changes, and promotional displays
  • Monitor sales trends and assist with product placement adjustments
  • Partner with store leadership to support overall store objectives
