Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a strong emphasis on fast, friendly customer service.
  • Assist customers by making product suggestions to support sales and service.
  • Engage in suggestive selling through telephone interactions, in‑store intercom announcements, and one‑on‑one customer engagement.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls professionally; resolve customer concerns as appropriate and escalate to the Store Director when needed.
  • Serve as acting Store Director in their absence, ensuring full store operational coverage.
  • Assist with planning daily operations and monitoring production processes in alignment with company procedures and profitability expectations.
  • Build, rotate, and maintain Grocery displays; remove outdated or spoiled product and ensure the department and work areas remain clean and organized.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays and assist in coordinating grocery sales promotions.
  • Ensure merchandise is accurately priced, clean, properly displayed, and shelves are consistently maintained.
  • Follow and uphold all department standards, policies, and requirements.
  • Monitor employee productivity and ensure performance expectations are met.
  • Create or assist with scheduling to ensure adequate staffing levels and strong customer service coverage.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all department duties, including Opening/Closing, Dairy, and Frozen operations.
  • Supervise, train, and assign tasks to department employees.
  • Train team members in store policies, sales techniques, customer service standards, and record‑keeping procedures.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Enforce proper code‑dating procedures across all departmental products.
  • Prepare sales and inventory reports; perform physical inventory every 6 months.
  • Control inventory to maintain proper product quantity, quality, and freshness in accordance with division directives.
  • Stock, rotate, and maintain inventory levels to ensure product availability and freshness.
  • Assist with ordering Grocery products and maintaining inventory within division guidelines.
  • Supervise reclamation processing and maintain orderly, fully stocked conditions in the back room and all Grocery Department areas.
  • Monitor and control shrink and departmental operating costs.
  • Implement proper product preparation techniques to uphold quality and safety standards.
  • Safely operate equipment including pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and the Sterilox machine.
