Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a strong focus on fast, friendly service.
  • Assist customers by making product suggestions and providing knowledgeable support.
  • Engage in suggestive selling through telephone interactions, in‑store announcements, and direct customer engagement.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls professionally; resolve customer concerns appropriately and escalate to the Store Director when necessary.
  • Serve as the acting Store Director in their absence, ensuring continuity of total store operations.
  • Assist with planning and monitoring daily grocery operations while following company procedures and profitability guidelines.
  • Ensure merchandise is properly priced, rotated, stocked, and displayed; maintain clean, organized, and safe department conditions.
  • Implement seasonal and promotional displays; assist with coordinating grocery sales promotions.
  • Uphold and maintain all department standards and expectations.
  • Monitor employee productivity and performance.
  • Schedule employees as needed to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
  • Maintain knowledge of all departmental duties, including opening/closing, dairy, and frozen operations.
  • Supervise, train, and assign daily tasks to department employees.
  • Train staff in store policies, sales practices, safety procedures, and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Ensure proper code‑dating procedures are enforced for all products within the department.
  • Prepare sales and inventory reports; complete physical inventories twice annually.
  • Maintain appropriate product quantity, quality, and freshness in accordance with division directives.
  • Stock, rotate, and order grocery products to sustain optimal inventory levels.
  • Oversee reclamation processing and ensure orderly, well‑stocked conditions in the back room and all Grocery Department areas.
  • Monitor and control shrink and departmental operating costs.
  • Apply correct product preparation techniques in accordance with company standards.
  • Safely operate equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, and safety cutters.
