About The Position

The Assistant Golf Shop Manager plays a key role in supporting the Golf Shop Manager with daily operations, ensuring exceptional member and guest experiences while maintaining efficient retail practices. Responsibilities include inventory control, merchandising, customer service, and assisting with marketing initiatives. This position collaborates closely with the golf professional staff to promote programs, events, and sales strategies that elevate the overall golf experience.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in retail, fashion, or business preferred.
Previous retail experience required; buying or merchandising experience preferred.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and visual presentation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage members professionally.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and point-of-sale systems; social media marketing experience a plus.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and perform cleaning or merchandising tasks.
Must be able to stand for extended periods and work both indoors and outdoors at varying temperatures.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and use both arms and hands for essential functions.
Flexible schedules include day/night shifts, weekends, holidays, and occasional long hours.

Knowledge of golf and related products is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Assist with daily Golf Shop operations, including opening and closing procedures.
Greet and engage members and guests, delivering a warm, professional experience.
Provide front-line customer service and foster a positive, member-focused culture.
Maintain high visual standards by refreshing displays, updating mannequins, and elevating merchandising concepts daily.
Ensuring apparel and soft goods are neatly folded, organized, and visually appealing.
Restock, re-merchandise, tag, and maintain overall shop cleanliness throughout the day.
Monitor inventory levels and communicate needs, member requests, and product concerns to the Retail Operations Manager.
Assist with weekly inventories, special count projects, and merchandise liquidation strategies.
Manage special orders from start to finish, ensuring accuracy and timely communication.
Stay informed on fashion trends and identify new brands and products for consideration.
Contribute to sales goals through product knowledge and effective selling techniques.
Assist in planning and executing promotions, e-blasts, and in-shop events.
Create engaging social media content and marketing materials to drive member engagement and sales.
Assist with tournament preparations, including themes, prizes, raffles, and gifting.
Support the growth of the Ladies’ Golf Program by participating in events, playing with members, and enhancing the overall experience.
Help train and motivate Golf Shop staff on merchandising standards, customer service, and operational procedures.
Promote a positive work environment through effective communication and a “Yes We Can” attitude.
Act as a role model for professionalism and member-service excellence.
Support the Director of Golf and Retail Operations Manager with special projects and initiatives.
Assist with applications for merchandising awards and other recognition programs.
