About The Position

Assistant Golf Professionals are responsible for supervising the golf operation while on duty. Daily activities will include supporting the golf shop cashiers by assisting with golfer check-in, retail purchase transactions, inventory procedures and retail display standards. They will work closely and manage the outside operations team to ensure superior service and amenity standards are always in place. The Assistant Professional is expected to take on any role within the golf operation when needed and is responsible for complete supervision of the operation in the absence of senior golf leadership.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • PGA Apprentice enrolled in PGA/ PGM level 1 or above
  • Previous experience with a golf facility operation, specifically with a retail operation
  • Strong service skills
  • Ability to work in fluid, evolving golf operation
  • Staff supervision experience
  • Strong interest in advancing career into a head professional role
  • Ability to work on feet for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to walk/stand for extended periods of time, work safely, communicate effectively, understand and carry out written and oral directions, and establish good working relationships with co-workers
  • Lift, reach, bend, twist, push, pull, squat, grasp and use arm-hand coordination on a consistent basis
  • Be able to work weekends and holidays, mornings and evenings as business demands.
  • Writing - Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Basic Computer Skills - Using basic computer hardware and software (e.g., personal computers, word processing software, Internet browsers, etc.).
  • Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • Oral Comprehension - The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Analytical/Critical Thinking - The ability to gather and organize information using a logical and systematic process; recognize patterns and relationships in complex data; examine data to identify implications, problems and draw appropriate conclusions; generate alternative solutions to problems; evaluate strengths, weaknesses and consequences of alternative solutions and approaches to solving problems.
  • Guest and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing guest and personal services. This includes guests’ needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of guest satisfaction.
  • Number Facility - The ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly.

Responsibilities

  • Work with managers and associates to achieve both financial and experiential goals as set forth by the company
  • Provide superior guest service through assisting guests with purchases, providing facility information and making reservations
  • Perform opening and closing duties for the operation
  • Assists in overseeing the daily golf operations
  • Assist with training of new associates and providing ongoing development for existing associates
  • Work closely with the Outside Services Lead to ensure high quality service and amenity standards are being maintained
  • Communicating associate performance concerns to the head professional in a timely manner
  • Ownership of all par stock level ordering for supplies and consumables
  • Assists with the facilitation of golf groups
  • Assist head professionals with scheduling of staff and maintaining associate records
  • Assists in managing golf pro shop retail staff
  • Ensures all merchandise levels are maintained
  • Ensures golf pro shop is kept clean and organized
  • Completes daily financial and rounds reporting as directed
  • Perform player development and instructional programming as directed
  • Perform regular inspections of the service and support areas to ensure all areas are being maintained in accordance with Big Cedar Lodge standards.
  • Enforces policies of Big Cedar Lodge.
  • Maintain accurate records for the golf shop with special emphasis on spreadsheets, check register, bank status, etc.
  • Adhere to all rules and regulations established in the standard operation procedure manual for Golf Shop and BCL/Bass Pro Shops.
  • Report all incidents of guest dissatisfaction to the head professional
  • Report all accidents/injuries that occur during the execution of Golf Shop business or on Big Cedar Lodge property through proper channels.
  • In the absence of the head professional, responsible for resolving guest concerns to their fullest satisfaction possible
  • In the absence of the head professional, responsible for complete supervision of the golf operation
  • Other duties as assigned
