About The Position

Palmetto Bluff is nestled along the May River in the Lowcountry of South Carolina between Hilton Head Island and Savannah. As an award-winning 20,000-acre development, the development encompasses a member only club, which includes a marina, restaurants, an equestrian center, a shooting club, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course and King-Collins 9 Hole Course, a lawn and racquet club, and more.  In addition, Palmetto Bluff has an extensive nature preserve, walking trails, retail shopping, and a vibrant village, all of which pay homage to the region’s rich heritage.   Job Summary:  The Assistant Golf Professional(s) assists the Director of Golf Club Operations and Head Golf Professional with all golf shop activities and outside services operations and ensures that members and guests receive outstanding customer service, which meets or exceeds their expectations.  The Assistant Golf Professional(s) is instrumental in organizing and implementing a “Go First” culture while interacting with members, guests, and co-workers. Design and implement golf services to improve the Club’s products and services as well as its competitive position in the marketplace.

Requirements

  • PGA Associate and/or desire to obtain PGA Membership preferred.
  • Experience at a high-end resort or private club operations preferred.
  • Experience with managing people and teams.
  • Strong knowledge of Golf Genius tournament software.
  • Highly ethical.
  • Extremely versatile leader.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluency in English.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to exert a well-paced ability to reach different outlets and other departments of the Resort on a timely basis.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, hearing ability, and visual acuity.
  • Talking and listening occur continuously while communicating with guests, supervisors, and subordinates.
  • Vision occurs continuously, with the most common visual functions being near vision and depth perception.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
  • Must have finger dexterity to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, photocopiers, and other office equipment as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise outside golf services, including scheduling and hiring.
  • Assist tournament operations with varying formats from planning, implementing, and billing.
  • In conjunction with Golf and Tennis Merchandise Manager and Head Golf Professional, place special orders, manage hard goods ordering and receiving, and conduct monthly inventories.
  • Assist with starting groups to introduce the golf experience and monitor the pace of play, engaging each group once per nine holes.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the golf car fleet and pushcart fleet to ensure cleanliness and preventive maintenance programs are implemented.
  • Assist Lead Assistant with keeping par levels of supplies and rental set inventory.
  • Interface with Caddie Master to ensure accurate scheduling of caddies and forecaddies. Ensure caddie fees are accurate and approved in a timely manner.
  • Manage tee sheets by setting up accurate starting times for members, guests, and resort guests.
  • Answer phones and greet members and guests with a warm welcome.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Golf Professional and/or Director of Golf Club Operations.
