About The Position

The Assistant Golf Professional supports the Head Golf Professional in managing the club's golf operations and programs. This role is essential for maintaining Riverside Country Club's reputation for excellence in golf operations and member satisfaction. Responsibilities include assisting with tournament coordination, merchandising, instruction, pro shop management, and oversight of daily golf operations.

Requirements

  • PGA Class A Member or minimum Level 1 and higher in PGM Program.
  • Prior experience as an Assistant Golf Professional (private club experience preferred but not required).
  • Self-starter/self-motivated and goal-driven.
  • Tournament operation experience required, familiarity with all aspects of tournament setup.
  • Proficient in Golf Genius or similar tournament management software.
  • Point of sales and cash management experience.
  • Maintain playing ability and work to stay competent in all areas of the game.
  • Knowledge and understanding of typical golf course procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a supervisory role preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination of tournaments and special events, including scorecards, golf car tags, proximities, staging area setup, and billing charges.
  • Assist in all aspects of the merchandising operation, including buying, receiving, selling, and floor displays.
  • Assist in the management of the pro shop staff and outside service staff.
  • Assist members by providing and interpreting golf policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Assist the Head Golf Professional in instruction and coaching; conduct golf clinics and group lessons.
  • Help with junior golf activities and programming.
  • Oversee pro shop inventory and periodically conduct physical counts of merchandise, including scorecards, tees, matches, pencils, ball marks, golf car tags, and tee sheets.
  • Document, charge, and keep accurate records of all in-house and outside club repair work.
  • Assume the Head Golf Professional's duties in his or her absence.
  • Help manage the daily opening and closing of golf operations.
  • Assist the pro shop staff, starter, ranger, and outside service personnel.
  • Ensure all tournament winners are properly entered into the credit book with correct dates and event descriptions.
  • Perform starter or marshal duties as needed.
  • Help manage the USGA handicap system for members; maintain complete knowledge of the handicapping system and all pertinent handicap information.
  • Keep the golf pro shop counter and club repair area neat, clean, and organized at all times.
  • Stay current on all upcoming club events; attend staff meetings.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment with emphasis on promoting employee health and safety.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform the required role during emergency situations.
  • Perform other appropriate tasks assigned by the Head Golf Professional.
