About The Position

As an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent , you will organize and direct the daily maintenance activities of a private upscale golf course efficiently and effectively to provide superior playing conditions, safe working surroundings, continuous employee development, and a strong team environment.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree, associate of science degree, or a certificate in Horticulture with previous experience in a supervisory/Management role.
  • Requires management, leadership, and people skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Requires basic computer skills as it relates to industry-specific technology.
  • Must possess the ability to learn and efficiently utilize Rain Bird Cirrus, Windows, Word, and Excel.
  • Requires a working knowledge of the game of golf, golf course-related equipment, computerized golf course irrigation systems, and knowledge of IPM systems.
  • Requires an understanding of private club operations concerning legal liability and employee relations.
  • Requires a valid Florida driver's license.
  • Must possess or obtain a current State of Florida Ornamental and Turf Restricted Use Pesticide License within the first six months of employment.
  • Requires lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds.
  • The position requires the individual to maintain flexible availability, with availability to work weekends and holidays.
  • May be required to return to the job site at odd hours under emergencies.
  • The nature of the position requires the individual to spend long periods of time on their feet, walking, standing, and stooping.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling and directing the daily activities of the Golf Course Maintenance Staff.
  • Implementing and monitoring the established golf course maintenance standards daily to ensure superior playing conditions for the membership.
  • Supervising the general safety and security of the maintenance facility and its physical assets.
  • Leading staff through outlined systems and procedures, and maintaining professional, mutually respectful relationships with all golf course staff.
  • Communicating with the Golf Course Superintendent to accomplish departmental goals.
  • Ensuring a clean, healthy, and safe working environment.
