About The Position

The purpose of this job is to provide instruction, leadership, and supervision to middle school students participating in the sports program. The assistant coach will play a vital role in fostering teamwork, skill development, and the overall improvement of student-athletes both academically and athletically.

Requirements

• Must have a Teachers Certificate or valid Substitute Certificate or Temporary (provisional) Teacher's Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Assist with practices by placing emphasis on the importance of teamwork, skill development, learning rules and strategies, and student-athlete improvement.
• Engage in academic monitoring with teachers, counselors, and other academic support staff.
• Supervise student-athletes before, during, and after practices and contests, including in locker rooms, on buses, and at all other times.
• Assume responsibility for constant care of equipment and inventory being used.
• Follow through on all required paperwork including rosters, physicals, insurance forms, and parent consent forms.
• Provide information for transportation, facilities, officials, and game management.
• Conduct team and self in an ethical manner during practices and contests, exemplifying the highest standards of sportsmanship.
• Assist in the coordination of the program.
• Promote student-athlete's accomplishments academically and athletically.
• Continue professional growth through clinics and professional publications.
