About The Role We are looking for a hand-on Assistant Manager to support the performance and day-to-day operations of the showroom. This role is responsible for driving sales performance, developing the team, and ensuring a consistently high-quality customer experience. You will work closely with the General Manager to deliver results, maintain operational standards, and step in where needed to support both customers and team members. You will stay close to the day-to-day operation, leading from the front on the showroom floor and ensuring targets, service standards, and processes are consistently delivered. You will play a key role in driving showroom revenue, improving team performance, and contributing to the overall success of the business. This is a fast-paced, customer-facing environment where priorities can shift quickly, requiring a proactive, solutions-focused leader who is comfortable balancing sales, people, and operational responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a retail or sales leadership role, ideally within a high-value or commission-based environment
  • Experience supporting and developing a team to consistently achieve and exceed sales targets
  • Strong ability to lead from the front,driving performance while supporting team success
  • Confidence in handling customer escalations and resolving issues quickly and professionally
  • Track record of improving sales performance and holding teams accountable to KPIs
  • Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to identify opportunities to increase sales and improve results
  • Data-driven mindset, using KPIs and performance metrics to drive action and decision-making
  • Ability to work closely with the General Manager and contribute to overall showroom success
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays in line with retail trading hours
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for training or regional meetings

Responsibilities

  • Leading from the front of the showroom floor, driving sales performance and supporting the team to achieve and exceed targets
  • Coaching and developing Designers to improve capability, confidence, and overall sales performance
  • Holding the team accountable for KPIs and identifying opportunities to improve results
  • Supporting the General Manager with recruiting, onboarding, and building a high-performing team
  • Taking ownership of the customer experience, ensuring every customer receives a consistent, high-quality design and sales journey
  • Stepping in to support complex customer situations quickly and professionally
  • Overseeing day-to-day showroom operations, ensuring standards, processes, and showroom presentation are consistently maintained
  • Monitoring individual and team performance, using data to drive action and improve outcomes
  • Partnering with the General Manager to implement initiatives that drive sales and operational efficiency
  • Ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures
