The Assistant General Manager will manage company operations and department personnel, motivating each department to reach their individual and overall club goals. The role involves contributing to the growth of the company by recruiting, training, and developing new team members and directors. The Assistant General Manager will also work to expand the profitability of the club by recruiting new members and retaining existing ones, while ensuring a quality club environment and excellent customer service. The position requires enforcing current and future policies and procedures established by the company.

  • Responsible for meeting monthly club quotas and personal sales quotas through direct selling and motivation of subordinate team.
  • Attract new members and retain current members by maintaining club operations and ensuring the team completes and follows the Membership/Fitness Consultant's Job Description.
  • Service all members and internal departments by always extending excellent customer service.
  • Ensure new team is well trained in customer service and safety by scheduling them with training personnel and/or training as needed.
  • Supervise subordinate team.
  • Schedule team member shifts, calculate current and anticipated payroll per budget requirements, and assure all shifts are covered.
  • Engage in continuous learning by reading, listening to audio, watching videos, or attending seminars that are industry-related.
  • Initiate new member sign-ups by explaining promotions, membership paperwork, and conducting club tours.
  • Assist subordinate team with the closing of memberships by performing tours.
  • Recognize and work to maintain existing membership by greeting members with information on upcoming events and offering assistance.
  • Maintain department supplies inventory by anticipating needs, placing orders, and verifying delivery.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and professional appearance of the club and the team through daily evaluations.
  • Ensure timely maintenance and repair of all facility and exercise equipment.
  • Continuously inform all company team of changes in policy, promotions, and programs through meetings and memos.
  • Resolve and document all member and team member issues by researching policies and procedures.
  • Work effectively with Program Directors by scheduling, preparing, and planning club events.
  • Meet company service objectives by training and developing the team to service members responsibly.
  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing and maintaining schedules and expenditures.
  • Drive team results through counseling, performance management, and appraising job results.
  • Complete company operational requirements by scheduling and assigning team members and following up on work results.
  • Effectively follow through on membership issues, requests, and problems.
  • Promote company programs and events by developing a club promotion plan.
  • Ensure consistency in team member policies and procedures through training and communication.
  • Contribute to and monitor programs and events by working cooperatively with Program Directors.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings and trainings as needed.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1-2 years management experience highly desired.
  • Desired knowledge, experience, and understanding of fitness including equipment, personal training, and group fitness.
  • Strong service orientation and desire to deliver an outstanding member experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work professionally and effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Work quality must be highly accurate, timely, and in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Excellent task completion and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to maintain focus in a sometimes hectic and evolving environment.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, cooperation, and ability to work well with all parties.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for company meetings and based on business needs.
  • Willing and able to work a flexible shift: evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.
  • CPR/AED certification required within first 60 days of hire.
