About The Position

The Assistant General Manager contributes to Starbucks’ success by assisting the General Manager in executing store operations and upholding Starbucks standards. This role supervises and supports team members to create and maintain the Starbucks Experience for customers and partners. The Assistant General Manager is responsible for modeling and acting in accordance with Starbucks’ guiding principles while ensuring smooth daily operations and exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 2 years of progressively responsible retail experience.
  • 1 year customer service experience in a retail or restaurant environment.
  • Experience in directing the work of others.
  • Open availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of retail environment, including operations, personnel management, and customer service.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and team-building skills.
  • Effective oral communication skills.
  • Ability to act with a 'customer comes first' attitude and deliver service that meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates clearly, concisely, and accurately to ensure effective store operations.
  • Filters communication to the shift team as directed by the General Manager.
  • Contributes to a positive team environment by recognizing changes in partner morale, performance and communicates concerns to the General Manager.
  • Demonstrates integrity, honesty, and knowledge while promoting Starbucks culture, values, and mission.
  • Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events; sets a positive example for the shift team.
  • Develops positive relationships with partners by addressing motivation, needs, and concerns.
  • Engages with customers to understand their needs and the needs of the community.
  • Models a customer-first attitude and ensures partners deliver legendary customer service.
  • Supports store operations by responding to immediate needs and utilizing external resources.
  • Reviews store environment and business indicators to identify opportunities for improvement and provides coaching and direction to the shift team.
  • Supports implementation of company programs and action plans to achieve operational and organizational objectives.
  • Recognizes and reinforces partner and team accomplishments; makes recommendations for new methods of recognition.
  • Provides coaching, feedback, and mentoring to partners; makes effective recommendations on employment decisions to the General Manager.
