About The Position

The Assistant General Manager of Transportation (Administration) at Broward County Board of County Commissioners is responsible for providing leadership and direction in the Transportation Administration Divisions. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in finance, business, public administration, or a closely related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in the administration and management of a public transit system, including supervisory experience.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Transportation Deputy General Manager in administering the county public transit administration and information systems programs.
  • Direct planning, scheduling, and coordination of activities through subordinates.
  • Develop policies, priorities, and procedures to meet established goals.
  • Align departmental administrative functions with other County Departments and comparable organizations.
  • Recommend, authorize, and implement organizational and administrative changes.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all Transportation sections and other agencies.
  • Review existing departmental organization structure and manpower utilization.
  • Promote efficient function procedures through standardization and process improvement.
  • Manage, develop, and motivate staff, exercising sound judgment and implementing solutions.
  • Serve as Acting Deputy General Manager in the absence of the Deputy General Manager.
  • Attend meetings with superiors and outside agencies to address issues and concerns regarding services provided.
  • Provide direction regarding employee issues and emergency management, ensuring security for facilities and public safety.
  • Direct and manage the Transit Purchasing Contract Officer and the Small Business Development Specialist.
  • Coordinate with other divisions for internal audits/reviews preparedness.
  • Administer compliance with established requirements for FTA programs.
  • Oversee and coordinate transit-related projects, programs, and contracts.
