About The Position

Rolls-Royce is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join our global legal team in support of the Procurement Business as a Legal Counsel. In this role, you will assist the Procurement team in executing its strategy, through active delivery of legal advice on a range of new and existing Procurement contracts and related areas and you will contribute to the achievement of the Legal Function’s strategic aims. Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a U.S. law school with 5+ years of relevant legal experience advising on supply chain agreements and U.S. federal government contracting
  • Admission and status in good standing with the state bar applicable to the location, or eligible to be licensed through reciprocity or eligible to practice as Corporate Counsel in accordance with relevant state rules

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to lead in ambiguous circumstances, and an ability to prioritize and manage a range of responsibilities
  • Good written and oral communication, comfortable interacting at all levels within the business and externally

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality, timely and technically correct legal advice and valued support to the Procurement team in an appropriate manner that considers each supplier and the broader context of the business.
  • Anticipate and analyze legal, compliance and business issues and proactively drive solutions to manage the impact of legal risk on the strategy of the business.
  • Be responsible for legal risk management on a project-by-project basis and propose and drive business orientated risk management strategies to completion.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the business, its market and its strategy, and how that translates to our Procurement agreements.
  • From time to time, instruct and manage advice through external legal service providers.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel within Rolls-Royce, including senior and executive management, by developing trusted working relationships with a focus on senior management engagement and influence.
