This is Caterpillar Law, Security & Public Policy (LSPP) has an opening for the Assistant General Counsel – Lead Counsel of Caterpillar’s Product Support & Logistics Division. The Product Support & Logistics Division (PSLD) is responsible for the worldwide distribution of Cat aftermarket parts, integrated logistics, and global service to develop and support our global dealer network and customers. This Lead Counsel will work with PSLD leadership and staff and collaborate with relevant functional and regional legal teams to ensure the provision of responsive and high-quality legal support globally. The Lead Counsel will deliver or coordinate the delivery of legal support for a broad range of issues and business activities. The position reports to the Deputy General Counsel for Digital, Technology & Distribution.

Requirements

J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
Eligible to practice as in-house counsel in Illinois
Demonstrated business acumen with strong intellectual curiosity
Considerable experience providing counsel for a global business and solid knowledge of Caterpillar's worldwide operations, policies, objectives, and history; 12+ years of progressively advancing job-related experience is typically required

Responsibilities

Advise senior management and provide clear recommendations on legal matters
Manage legal support of PSLD through supervision of a team, or coordination of a network of attorneys, or serving as a subject matter expert
Implement legal strategies and goals in line with company's business objectives, researching complex legal issues and reviewing and drafting complex legal documents
