About The Position

A senior lawyer who is a highly qualified attorney handling complex legal matters and projects on behalf of the Company.

Requirements

  • An LLB or JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdictions.
  • At least 7 to 10 years of professional experience in a specialized area of law.
  • Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of the legal field to the completion of complex assignments.
  • Requires excellent legal research, analytical abilities and on ongoing knowledge of federal or state law.
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly – both orally and in writing; to read and analyze legal materials and other data; to work in stressful conditions under time deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of state and federal laws regulating the utility industry and understanding of natural gas an electric utilities.
  • Advanced experience in regulatory law, municipal law and/or civil litigation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and representation before the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) in connection with resolving customer complaints alleging billing and service issues.
  • Provide legal advice and representation primarily before the PUC to PECO’s natural gas and electric delivery businesses in a variety of state and federal energy regulatory matters (e.g., rate cases, compliance matters, enforcement matters, regulatory litigation) and manage outside counsel assisting in such matters.
  • Provide general legal services to PECO business units, including assisting in the preparation of testimony, writing regulatory comments, drafting and negotiating contracts and other miscellaneous legal matters, and managing outside counsel assisting in such matters.
  • Prepares, and revises as necessary, budgets and early matter assessments for all matters involving outside counsel.
  • Provides lead direction and/or project leadership direction to less experienced attorneys and support staff.
  • Projects / duties as assigned.
