About The Position

We are looking for an Assistant Facility Security Officer (FSO) to support the AFRL/RG (AFWERX) Technical Operations Branch. AFWERX is the innovation arm of the Department of the Air Force (DAF) and accelerates agile and affordable capability transitions by teaming innovative technology developers with Airman and Guardian talent. AFWERX supports both internal and external (federal and industry partners) users across multiple CONUS locations through client hardware support (NIPR, DREN) and cloud-based (e.g. IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) applications. Additionally, the AFWERX Technical Operations Branch provides Risk Management Framework (RMF) and cybersecurity support to the different AFWERX divisions (i.e. AFVentures, Spark, Prime), including Flight Test Program Management (FTPM) support to both manned and unmanned flight tests. The ideal candidate will have the knowledge and ability to perform tasks related to the technical/professional discipline they are performing. The work can be done independently or monitored by senior employees to ensure compliance with proper procedures.

Requirements

  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform tasks related to the technical/professional discipline.
  • Experience with security management and Information Protection.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative, security management, Information Protection (IP), and AntiTerrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) to AFRL/RGOS.
  • Participate on Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and related activities.
  • Analyze problems, define alternative solutions, provide recommendations, write reports, and accomplish specifically assigned work as defined in individual tasks orders/projects.
  • Not release or allow any foreign national access to United States Government (USG) without direct approval from the USG.
  • Comply with the US State Department’s International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Follow the foreign travel requirements as identified in the Foreign Country Clearance Guide.
  • Assist in maintaining secure facilities and respond to alarms of the USG facilities IAW USAF requirements and AFRL Operating Instructions (OIs).
  • Receive and secure classified information.
  • Conduct independent security studies and analyses as required with only general direction and guidance.
  • Assist the Chief of Information Protection to ensure security program requirements are integrated into all program areas.
  • Provide security input for Statement of Work (SOW), Statement of Objectives (SOO), CONOPS, ST&E, Data Item Description (DID), SCG, and DD Form 254.
  • Prepare DD Form 254s for signature, coordination, and distribution by the appropriate USG agency.
  • Assist in preparation of Security Classification/Declassification Guides for AFRL programs.
  • Provide support to the AFRL as a technical security advisor to senior program leaders.
  • Participate in security working groups and other meetings as required.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable DoD, USAF, and AFMC security directives.
  • Develop and coordinate implementing security guidance for distribution to USG/industry team.
