About The Position

Seaman High School has an opening for an Assistant Football Coach for the 2026 school year. The assistant coaching position is responsible for coaching student-athletes in competitive football techniques to prepare them for competition. Assistant coach motivates athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport of football in coaching Varsity, JV and freshman level players. This position includes aspect of the summer program from 6/8/26 to 7/24/26 and the fall season from 8/1/26 to 11/25/26. Candidate must have coaching experience and/or have competed in the sport of football.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the off-season and in-season responsibilities during practices and games.
  • Assist in organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages students participation.
  • Assesses skill level, assigns positions and determines roles.
  • Helps develop a practice plan and provides input for individual and team development.
  • Works with the head coach and athletic director in the responsibliites of practice and games.
  • Provides instruction of the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
  • Observes players in practice and games to support individual and team improvement.
  • Establishes standards of student behavior and provides supervision of student-athletes.
  • Helps monitor the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility.
  • Follows established procedures and works with the athletic trainer in the event of an injury.
  • Assist in conferences with parents/guardians regarding student performance.
  • Follows KSHSAA regulations and guidelines that govern high school athletics.
  • Models sports-like behavior and appropriate conduct towards athletes, officials, etc.
  • Follows established procedures for supplies and uniforms.
  • Participates in special events to include parent night, team dinners, award banquet.
  • Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities related to football and otherwise.
  • Supports a winning culture that emphasizes, hard work, structure, discipline and intregrity.
  • Supports the head coach, expectation and standards of the SHS athletic department.
