About The Position

We are seeking an Assistant Food & Beverage Manager with a strong emphasis on wine and beverage excellence to join our leadership team. This is a highly visible, floor-based role designed for a hospitality professional who thrives in guest engagement, values operational discipline, and brings an authentic passion for wine and beverage culture. This position is intentionally structured to support two primary dining venues, strengthening leadership presence on the floor while ensuring sustainable coverage for our management team. It is ideal for an emerging beverage leader who enjoys being hands-on in daily operations while steadily expanding their influence within a complex, high-performing private club environment. Working closely with the Director of Food & Beverage and Restaurant Managers, this individual will help lead service execution, elevate beverage programming, mentor staff, and ensure our members experience consistency, confidence, and warmth at every visit.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2–4 years of progressive food & beverage experience in an upscale hospitality environment
  • Level 1 Sommelier certification (CMS, WSET, or equivalent) required; higher certifications a plus
  • Strong foundational knowledge of wine regions, varietals, pairings, and service standards
  • Working knowledge of spirits, cocktails, and beer
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a strong, consistent presence across dining room, bar, and patio operations
  • Lead service with professionalism, composure, and attention to detail
  • Support service flow, pacing, table management, and guest recovery when needed
  • Assist with scheduling, labor awareness, and daily operational coordination
  • Provide balanced leadership coverage across multiple outlets, including evenings and weekends
  • Serve as the on-floor resource for wine, spirits, cocktails, and beer knowledge
  • Guide members through thoughtful wine recommendations and food pairings tailored to preferences and occasions
  • Support stewardship of the wine program, including cellar organization, locker management, and inventory oversight
  • Reenergize and thoughtfully manage the Club’s Wine Society through engagement, event support, and communication
  • Partner with leadership on purchasing awareness, pricing integrity, and cost mindfulness
  • Collaborate with culinary and events teams on wine dinners, tastings, and seasonal beverage programming
  • Assist in building beverage-driven events that bring value and enthusiasm to the membership
  • Contribute ideas for creative programming while maintaining alignment with the Club’s standards and financial responsibility
  • Deliver engaging beverage education and ongoing service training to front-of-house teams
  • Coach staff in real time on wine presentation, upselling techniques, and hospitality standards
  • Lead by example with a calm, gracious, and solutions-oriented demeanor
  • Foster a team culture built on accountability, professionalism, and pride in service
