Overview Job Summary The Assistant Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Fleet Maintenance Manager in overseeing the day-to-day maintenance and repair operations of our company's fleet vehicles and equipment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that all vehicles are in safe and operational condition, and maintenance tasks are completed efficiently. The Assistant Supervisor will help lead a team of mechanics and technicians, maintaining high-quality standards, and contributing to the overall success of our private fleet management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of fleet maintenance experience and ability to achieve industry certifications.
  • Proficiency in fleet management software and computerized maintenance mgmt. systems (CMMS).
  • Experience using software for all DVIR reports.
  • Proficient with Microsoft programs. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Current or ability to obtain a Class A CDL and medical card

Nice To Haves

  • Technical or trade school certification.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive and heavy equipment maintenance practices.
  • ASE Certification or similar automotive certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor overtime within the fleet maintenance department.
  • Coordinate and schedule routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs for the fleet.
  • Oversee diagnostics, troubleshooting, and complex repairs.
  • Oversee quality control standards for maintenance and repairs to ensure that all maintenance tasks are carried out efficiently and to high-quality standards.
  • Conduct inspections and quality checks to ensure work meets company standards.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records, including service history and repair logs.
  • Ensure fuel is monitored daily along with making sure fuel orders are placed and scheduled.
  • Maintain an orderly and usable parts room. Maintain inventory of parts, supplies, tires and equipment necessary for repairs.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for timely parts procurement.
  • Verify warranty eligibility and assist with warranty documentation
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with environmental, safety, and OSHA regulations.
  • Conduct safety training and safety meetings for fleet maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain a tire management program to make sure all equipment is in compliance.
  • Generate reports with the manager on fleet maintenance activities, costs, and performance metrics.
  • Assign work, set priorities, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Oversee the installation, integration and removal of fleet telematics devices.
  • Work varying shifts, days, swing, graveyard, weekends and holidays.
  • Travel as required to meet business needs.
