The Honolulu Board of Water Supply is looking for an assistant to the Program Administrator of Field Operations to assist in the overall executive direction of the division. As an Assistant Program Administrator, your duties and responsibilities will include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the division's five base yards, oversight of the 24-hour operation and maintenance of the water distribution system, including all pipelines and construction equipment, valves, fire hydrants, meters, and appurtenant installations. You will also operate an island-wide system in the receiving and handling of water interruption calls and complaints, including the coordination of all emergency functions necessary to minimize interruption of water service. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing, recommending, and implementing policies and program priorities necessary to carry out the division and department goals and objectives as mandated by law or determined by the Board. Other responsibilities include researching and preparing appropriate correspondence and responses to various inquiries, complaints, and/or reports for the Program Administrator or the Manager and Chief Engineer, assisting in the preparation of the division's budget, and performing other related duties as assigned.

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the division's five base yards.

  • Operation of an island-wide system in the receiving and handling of water interruption calls and complaints.
  • Developing, recommending, and implementing policies and program priorities.
  • Researching and preparing appropriate correspondence and responses to various inquiries.
  • Assisting in the preparation of the division's budget.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
  • Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Three (3) years of administrative experience relating to the design, construction, installation, and/or maintenance of a major facilities or systems encompassing field operations of a large geographic area.
  • Possession of a valid license as a professional engineer in the State of Hawaii.
