About The Position

The Assistant Field Hockey Coach at the University of Richmond is responsible for supporting all aspects of the Division I Field Hockey program. This includes coaching, skill development for student-athletes, recruiting, and managing administrative tasks to ensure a positive collegiate experience. The role requires collaboration with the head coach to develop a competitive sports program and to foster an environment that promotes academic and personal growth for student-athletes.

Requirements

  • A thorough knowledge of applicable NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all applicable NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in coaching Field Hockey is required.
  • Ability to lead and motivate student-athletes is required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to produce a driving record with a minimum of 3 years of driving history in good standing.
  • At least 4 years of experience coaching on the collegiate level is required.
  • A bachelor's degree is required; master's degree is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong understanding of all aspects of social media is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the head coach in the development of a sports program that challenges student-athletes to succeed individually and as a team.
  • Provide student-athletes with appropriate coaching by imparting knowledge of the game and strategies for success.
  • Utilize video and other technology to provide instruction.
  • Design and implement skill instruction drills for individual and team practices.
  • Assist with the oversight of training and team-building activities.
  • Be prepared and able to lead the program in case of absence by the head coach.
  • Help coordinate and execute an effective recruiting plan to recruit student-athletes that can be successful within the team system.
  • Manage various administrative tasks associated with team operations such as travel planning and coordination and equipment management.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to assisting student-athletes achieve academic success.
  • Assist the head coach in creating a positive educational environment.
